Hello, internet!
Published on
Hi. It took akwardly long, but Cartero finally has a blog, where announcements, community posts, tips or information can be published.
For instance, a new version is going to be released soon, and while the release notes will be published on GitHub as well, as usual, they will be published here as a blog post too.
We are very happy with our Mastodon social media account (you should consider following @cartero@floss.social, by the way!), but having a blog will provide clean URLs that you can share, and all the information that you need in a single place, so no more threads!
If you want to follow for updates, you should subscribe to the RSS feed. RSS is a critical technology that allows you to get updates from the websites you care. No algorithms, just a cronological task list of new posts from the sites you follow, fetched automatically, that you can read or mark as read, just like e-mail. It is not my job right now to teach you about RSS, but if you are concerned about how big social media sites are making the internet a colder place, you should make some research about RSS! There are gems waiting for you.
Finally, I’d like to thank those of you who use Cartero daily. Cartero was born because I was sick of switching from alternative to alternative every time the application I used to test APIs got enshittificated. Therefore, the expected number of users for Cartero is 1, but it is a joy to see people recommending the program.
I am introducing changes to the way Cartero is released and versioned in order to provide new features faster. My next post will talk about that in detail.
Making HTTP requests and testing APIs should be affordable again. That's why I am building Cartero, the free and open source HTTP client that you can use to develop and test APIs.
